Processing Unit Certification

To maintain the quality and integrity of the organic product, the processing unit has to be certified, and this certification can be obtained under the processing unit certification as per the NPOP standard. Processing and handling involve the process involving the change of form of the product from raw material to the final product, such as processing, packing and selling of the particular product. Organic re-packers will also be considered for organic certification under processing and handling. The processing of organic products should be done separately either in time or place from the handling and processing of non-organic products. The source of contamination should be identified, and preventive measures should be taken to avoid the chance of comingling from non-organic products. The quality and organic integrity of an organic product should be maintained throughout each step of its processing.
